how often clean out skimmer cup and neck

i heard every 2 to 3 days take it off and clean so the skimmer so it will skim the best and clean out the body of the skimmer once a year

I have run skimmers for over 20 yrs, I wipe it out once a week with a paper towel, cup and neck. I would not disagree that every 4 or 5 days is better, but have found that doing maint on a regular basis is the best, even if it's not done as often as is optimal

I do weekly water changes, also weekly cup cleaning mostly because it full.
