How often do you feed your trigger?

How often do you feed your trigger? I'm thinking about getting a 5 " piccaso trigger and was wondering how often do they have to be fed? I know they are crazy eaters :lol: I'm good with feedind seafood once a day and pellets/flake once a day. Also how much do you feed them at once? Will 4 whole shrimp be enough to feed a trigger for a day?

2-3 times a day is great. Four whole shrimp will be overkill. Sounds like a lot of waste. Great fish. Love them personally

Once a day and every 3rd day skip a day. Predators need some time to fast, over feeding is worse than under feeding

I've never heard that fasting is good for predators before until that post. They are super active so I'm not sure how skipping a day would help them. I feed 2-3 times per day. 2 meals that are veggie based, my clown trigger loves nori. 1 meal with meaty foods. I rotate between chopped up shrimp, squid, mysis, clam, muscles.

my clown and Picasso get pellets, either clam/scallop/prawn and nori every day, although the Picasso just chews on the nori and spits it out into little pieces, my tangs scoop it all up fortunately. they are quite fat though.

I feed mine pellets 2-3 times per day, and a couple of clams, shrimp, squid, or silversides about 3 times a week. Sometimes I get creative and make shrimp sushi out of the nori. Everything in my tank except my clowns go absolutely crazy over that...

Fat as can be!!!

OP: What kind of shrimp are you talking about feeding? 3-4 krill won't be too much, but 3-4 full grown shrimp would be overkill...

I haven't either. Don't think the trigger tank mates would think this is a good idea either

I feed my Sargassum trigger once a day, but I do limit his tank mates (miniatus grouper and porcupine puffer) to smaller portions on some days and other days larger portions. This seems to keep the aggression down, but in no way can I put a new fish in that tank. The 3 musketeers get a long fine as long as they get food.

2-3 times a day works..
4 whole shrimp is a lot and I doubt whether a 5 incher could eat even half that.
2-3 times, smaller feedings...they have wonderful metabolisms, providing they are in a suitable tank...how big is the tank?
ime, a well-fed trig is also a better behaved trig..

Thx everyone! I think ill stck with my original feeding plan - Pellets once a day and seafood once a day i might even be able to feed him sea urchin cuz there's ton at my local beach you just gotta love sri lanka!

That's what I do, as well - NLS pellets in the morning, and LRS Fish Frenzy at night.
