How often to feed???

Hi Everyone - Just picked up a frogspawn and dendro at a frag swap meet. I fed the frogspawn mysis shrimp and some phytoplankton last night, and it really seemed to open up tonight!!

How often do you normally feed your corals? Will feeding everyday result in healthier and faster growing coral? Or no better than feeding 2x weekly?

I do weekly water changes so not really worried about extra food causing nitrate/phosphate issues!!

Thanks!!

Matt

These are lps corals just so you know in the future, but i usually feed mine once or twice a week and they have been fine. I did feed more often before but never saw much of a diffrence so went back to normal just to help with water quality

I have never target fed my frogspawns (green tentacles with purple tips) in over a year. It went from 3 heads in august 2011 (first pic) when i first got it, to just over 15 heads in june (second pic). It eventually got bigger and i was relocating it one day and about 5-7 heads ended up separating. Boy was i ****ed.:headwally: I took it to my LFS recently and traded it in for a different color frogspawn (purple tentacles with neon green tips). I got it with 4 heads and it has 6 now. I feed my fish on a regular basis (10-15 times a day) with spectrum pellets, frozen mysis, freeze dried krill & freeze dried plankton. I skim heavy all the time. When feeding my fish, i always squeeze the food so it creates a juice that my corals enjoy. Other than that, i also use kent marine chromamax & kent marine microvert. All my other corals are doing great in my tank (over 20 types) I do a 50gal water change as a rule every 3wks. I;m not saying that target feeding wont work but it might just grow it faster. I know this is different, but I've actually placed zoas on rocks
(10 polyps) and in 3 mths has actually passed over 50 polyps.
