How often to replace temp probe

I just got my Apex and really like it so far. Before I was running a AC Jr and with the old style temp probes on those units it had to be replaced at least once per year.

They changed the style of probes and I received one of those and it seems to be a much higher quality product. I can't remember how long I have had it but it is still working great.

The Apex uses the same probe so I slapped the old probe on the Apex and it seems to work fine so I was going to put the new probe that came with the Apex up and save it for when this one goes bad.

I was wondering about how long these redesigned probes are expected to last.

thx,
C.G.

I've never heard of temp probes having to be replaced on any unit. Are you sure you're not thinking of the pH probe? In any case, the Apex temperature probe should last for years. Just to be certain, however, I have always used a very cheap $10 probe-based aquarium temp monitor as a second readout. Even those cheap units lasts for years.

Yeah I am sure that i am talking about a temp probe. The ones that worked with the jr lasted a year at best and that is the reason I am asking about these but I agree they should last for a while just trying to confirm.

Temp probes do seem to go bad eventually but it isn't anything you can plan on. Some last 1 year some 10 years. They fail very randomly, not predictably like pH probes.
