How old

big question with lot's of possible answers. what species? do you have a male and a female? etc.

The short answer (and I tried to verify before posting here, but wasn't able to find it in my Clownfish bible :)) is... clowns can be sexually mature in about a year.

When you fill in some details, it will be easier to answer your question.

Can't really tell their age by laying eggs or not. It is different in tanks, but in the wild the un-sexed "juvis" could go years before it is their time to move up in the pecking order.

My pair of Clarkiis started spawning after I had them for about 9 months ( not sure how long they had been at the LFS ), where as my pink skunk pair has been with me for 2+ years, and I am still waiting.

That is correct. The shortest time they could be ready to bread is about a year. But it varies a lot from species to species. Many are very difficult to get to spawn and even if they do it occurs very infrequently.

How long before they typically establish sex? Mine have been together for a year, were very small on arrival, still no sign of sex.
