How patient with a tunze 9011?

Have had my tank up for about 2 weeks
and started skimmer about 4 days ago
its in sump, using the suction cups to attach to the bottom and has the pipe attached and a slow flow coming out of the pipe.

I have no fish but high ammonia due to adding alot of food to the tank so there should be something to skim. in fact, my overflow returns cause a ton of foam in my sump right next to the skimmer.

The water in the sump is about 1/4" below the water line on the skimmer.
I have the pipe installed and have been opening the air valve every day a half turn but see ZERO bubbles in the skimmer and no skimmate. I can feel water circulating in the skimmer with my hand but no evidence that air is getting inside.

Not sure what to do next, if anything.

Hi Dave, if you're seeing no bubbles at all then it sounds like the internal airline may be kinked or disconnected. But before opening it up, please open the blue air valve all the way and double check. If there are still no bubbles at all then slide off the bottom cover and remove the pump. You should be able to see where the airline connects to the pump and where it connects to the silencer (larger diameter clear tube). Check that all those connections are snug and that the airline continues from the silencer up to the back of the blue air adjustment screw. If any of these lines are kinked or twisted, please correct that, reassemble everything and try again. (There's a diagram on page 8 of the manual showing how the parts go together.)
