How potent is a chalice's sting?

While feeding my acans at night I notice the a few very fine sweepers from my pink chalice, now small food like arctipods doesn't seem to cling to them, so I'm wondering if those are for defense/offense?

Also how strong are they? Will they completely destroy acan lords? echinata? lepasthrea? It's my little LPS mountain in my stony tank so there's no issues with SPS getting stung.

they can hurt micros and zoa pretty bad i have never had them sting anything else

I had a ric that wasn't mounted well and fell down onto one, destroyed the ric overnight.

keep everything a distance from the chalice, at night when its tentacles are out they can be 3-4" long, and they pack a wallop! almost killed my candy cane.

I had the same thing happen with a ricordia -it practically, like, ate the thing overnight

Well I'm not worried about softies, since the tank is all stonies (except for some palys that I couldn't get off a rock *grumble*)

Don't exactly want to play scientist either and move a coral over, however I know the acans can totally munch on a chalice if they get in contact, however the sweepers of the chalice extend way further than that of the acans, I'm just wondering if I should start rearranging some corals before they start encrusting.

Ah thanks, I'll do this. Problem now is deciding what gets priority, the chalice is so pretty as it's pink.. the acans on the other hand, well they're equally nice..

not sure about the acans sting, but i can tell ya that chalice has almost killed a few of my corals. good luck.
