how quick can you introduce sps

just wondering if you should just add a couple at a time or if you could go for say a dozen frags at a time, is it best to take things slow??? my params are all fine and i have about 6 frags in my tank already. is it risky adding to much to quick??? cheers.

If your tank is completly established I dont think it would hurt to add quite a few. I have had my tank running for over a year and added 11 successfully no too long ago.

my params are, cal 440ppm, alk 7.0, mag 1500, ive added about 5 so far and all is well, just didnt want to rush into it, also i wanted to know if supplementation was necessary if continuing regular water changes weekly. i use red sea coral pro salt, i just cant get my head around how to successfully supplement the red sea reef care range no matter how many times i read up on it!!!!

from start of tank to addition of first acro was only 6 weeks. my sps grew like wild fire, almost a 1/4" a month..... the digitata wasnt too happy but all others seemed just fine

I would worry about the chances of pests more than the amount of sps corals going in. Every frag is a potential infestation.:worried:

Defintely dip the coral. Do you have enough light to support all the coral?

I think you would be fine, I would just keep a close watch on things for the first few weeks, mainly cal and alk. Weekly water changes are enough now, but when they start growing they will cosume much more. I dose ESV 2 part and am very happy with it.

how do you dip the coral what is the best product??? i havent dipped mine, too late now oh well i will just dip any new ones that i get!!!!

I use revive to dip all my corals that I get. I just put a bubbler or maxijet in there and let it sit in there for 6 minutes and then take it out and observe it closely.

ok cheers for all your responses, i am runnging a rsm 250 six t5's, and all coral are placed right at the top of my rock work, where i struggle with keeping sps is dosing to maintain stable params, i looked into the whole red sea reef care range but am struggling with it, are there any other supplements that you would suggest

You need to get a high quality alk and calc kit and get used to testing. A bunch of actively growing sps will eat alk and calc to point where you will either need a calcium reactor or dose 2/3part. There is no way around it, you simply wont want to or be able to change enough water to keep up with demand.

dip with revive or coral RX, both are good.... never put new corals in if they arent quarentined or dipped.... learned the hard way
