Well the one spot on my one chromis in QT is starting to look more and more like ich so I've decided to hypo as a preventative measure. I've read several articles on hypo and did some searching but couldn't find the answer to this question (or I overlooked it.)
I will be replacing salt with RO/DI to the QT to lower salinity but what's the best method to adjust the PH and Alk so that I don't shock the chromis?
I'm currently aerating and heating the water but I assume that I will need to add baking soda, washing soda, lime, or something else to bring the PH up to 8.2 to match the QT. If you have the answer or can point me to some reading materials I would greatly appreciate it.
Also if you know approximate amounts to add to my water that would be helpful as well. (i.e. X grams of bicarbonate will raise Y gallons of RODI Z PH points.)
Thanks!
Mike
