how to be sure black ich gone?

Only survivor of my ich infestation ordeal is my dogface puffer. he has been in QT for like 2 months now with lowered salinity. DT has no fish or inverts in it, just sitting all this time.

When the tang was in there with him (R.I.P.) you could see the little black spots easily. On the puffer, his skin is kinda wrinkly, and he has different sizes of little black spots anyway. Is it gone? No sign of regular ich for 6-8 weeks.

Would like to get him back in the DT in like 4 weeks maybe. Any new tank buddies will definitely be doing hard time in the QT before going in main tank.

I've actually never used hypo (ie 1.009) to treat black ich (turbellarian worms). The 2 times that I've experienced it, I did daily freshwater dips for a week.
