How to clean an old salt container .

I recently purchased 2 40 gallon container . Guy had a water mixed system . What can I clean the salt container out with ? It's just been sitting for about 6 months . Or is it ok to use ? I sprayed it out with a water hose the best I could . It just has a strong funky smell . May be normal . But seeing if there is anything to clean it better that's not harmful to my tank . Or just roll with it ? What's yalls input .

Water & vinegar, scrub with plain sponge and dry out

Vinegar and RO/DI. Rinse well and use.

Plain bleach mixed with water. Rinse really well.

I have use bleach and vinegar, depending on which one is available in the house. If I use bleach, I usually do a 1:10 ratio. Rinse well and then I refill with water and add some Prime for a little while, then rinse again and let air dry.
