gasman059

The OG mad scientist
About to setup this all glass cube but ubfortunately has been neglected for quite some time now. No scratches just this ugky algae like film that would not go away with regular cleaning. No scratches just this blotches.
Any ideas THX.

razor blade and vinegar, otherwise a nuclear bomb will probably get rid of it

Ditto!

BTW I've tried -CLR form Hdepot- with a razor blade.
As well as vinegar with razor.

The glass surface is clean and smooth- seems like "smoke like"

well i guess its time to call in an airstrike:eek2:

i think i would try letting the vinegar soak full strength for a day, that has to do something to it. ive heard about people using muriatic acid which im pretty sure is hydrochloric acid to clean stuff, just make sure to rinse it all out good

i guess you can always just use it as a refugium is all else fails lol

muriatic definately, i think it is much more cost effective now taht ive been using it. maybe 10-15% acid to water, my pumps come out brand new with almost no scrubbing whatsoever. melts away any calcium build up.

yup that's the next step- muriatic as recomended by hillary.

LOL I love Dem vs. Repub. talk.

Muriatic acid is very harsh. Are you sure it wouldn't eat through the seams?

-Matthew

btw McCain for the win! lol

lol how does politics find its way into everything?

i've used bleach to clean all my stuff forever. never had a problem with it either. I would give that a try...just rinse rinse rinse...

It prolly will thus patience is a virtue when cleaning the tank.

Oh dear God no! I'm trying to start a new business this year.
I don't think the economy, or either of my businesses could survive another 4 years of Bush. :eek2:

Sorry, I have nothing constructive to add... I'm just a political junkie. ;)

Actually, now that I think about it, CLR isn't specifically made to remove algae.
Something more along the lines of bleach or a green algaecide available at a pool and spa supply store might be better, and safer than acid.

another 4 years of Bush

But, President Bush is not running, Senator McCain (1/2 Democrat) or Senator Hillary (1/4 Republican) will be our next President. You see they both work with the other side, which is what Senator Obama is saying he would do, but has never done. I am a political junkie too. Just having fun.

Just having fun.
It's all fun and games til someone loses an eye. :p

Actually I think Hillary is the one that's 1/2 repub, and the "McSame as Bush" nickname is gonna stick like glue, especially since McCain is reinventing himself as "Bush on steriods". lol
Good luck convincing the country that electing McCain wouldn't mean keeping the Bush status quo for the next 4 years.

Curious why you discounted Obama so quickly?
Even if Hillary wins every state from here till the end she still won't have more delegates than Obama at this point.
It would take the superdelegates to crossover and go against the voters' will for her to win now.
My prediction is Obama FTW and you can take that to the bank. ;)

Shhhhhh, don't tell Manny, but I think we've stopped pretending to help him...

muratic acid

muratic acid

If you dilute the muratic acid it wont hurt the seams but will eat away anything that is organic. Not sure of the proper dilution ratio though. Tank will look like brand new.

where not ready for a female president! with that said i dont want tiger woods to win either lol

thx LarryV!

Gasman, heres what you do. Take 2 part of Hillary and 2 part of Obama, mix together and soak for about a day or two. Afterwards, use the McCain solution to clean everything up.
