My vortech is caked with coraline and wanted to know everyones opinion on how to clean it. I read in a forum that someone soaked it in vinager. Is this a good thing to try? How long should I soak it for if so.
Nate
Thats the same thing I have heard, just give it a good cleaning and try not to let it get as built, if worse comes to worse you can buy a new wet side for it on live aquaria I believe, 75 bucks...
Overnight in a vinegar water mix would probably work. Lately i've been cleaning all my plastics with a Muriatic acid/water solution + powerhead. The coralline comes right off with a gently scrub.
I always use 50% vinegar 50% water in a 5 gallon bucket overnight. Next day I use a small "tooth brush like" soft wire bristle brush from home depot to clean. Looks like new everytime. For stubborn or extra thick build up I have used 75% vinegar 25% water......
