If you have any ideas please share I would like to avoid a disaster. I just had my mandarin get sucked into my aquaclear powerhead that I was using temporarily and I don't want it to happen again.
Thanks,
Barbara

Vortechs come with a foam sleeve. You could diy something, for instance, taking a thick piece of poly and splitting it in half like pita bread and sliding it over.

I don't use the covers as they drastically reduce their output as well as collect detritus.

Concentrate on making things happy for the 'nem so it doesn't cruise around IMO.

That is the goal, for them to find a good place but they are new to the tank so they're still looking for the deluxe suite! I was going to get some of the fine mesh ie. Crinoline from michaels do you think that would be reef safe? And kinda put the powerhead in a "bag" of it and use some thread/ string to tie it?

Octopus tanks are lined with astro-turf. An octopus will not cross astro-turf either because they dislike the feel or cannot grip it. You could try a section of something like that around the magnet disc.

If you can make a rock island in the center of your tank the nems generally won't cross the sand to leave it. I have 3 Koralias and about 15 nems and not a single causality, yet. :D
