How to drip acclimate

Hey all,
I prefer to drip acclimate my new inhabitants whenever possible, but I am not sure if I go about it correctly--especially concerning temperature. I float any bags in the tank for 15 minutes to equalize temperature, but I do not often have room to hang bags inside the sump to drip, so I typically put the critters (fish especially) into a bucket. The problem is, after 1.5-2 hours of dripping, the temperature is no longer equal to that of the aquarium. What then? The other day I ended up trying to get a heater into the bucket, but that's not always feasible.

How do you all do it?

wow thats sounds like a lot of trouble. I just float the bag and after about a half hour i use a turkey baster and squirt some water in the bag and do the same 2 more time every 15 minutes. after an hour of floating i put it in the tank. have done this so may times i have lots count and have never once lost anything. thats 100% success rate. and i have done the same thing with dying corals even. dripping is a little over rated in my opinion.

I suppose. I have never lost anything either, and typically do the old 1/4 cup every 7-10 minutes or so method. I just acclimated three fish that came out of the same tank and it was easy to have them all in one bucket.

Also, I do not have a lot of room in the sump without interfering with pump intakes, and tomorrow I will have to acclimate a large order of CUC.

Thanks for the reply.
