How would one get a pair of yellow faced maroon clowns? i want to give a pair a 60gal tank to themselves with a few inverts and a anemone. I was thinking get 5 waite until i see a pair and take back the other 3? could i keep all 5? i would only get 1 dominate female and male and have 3 left over...will this be a problem?

buy 2 small ones stick them together cross your fingers and wait it out....if all is good one will become female.

Here are my Maroon Clown paired up, living in a small group of Rose Bubble Tip Anenomes. I purchased the large female about 3 years ago, she lived by herself for about 1 1/2 years when I came across a small Maroon for about $15. I could not refuse and I purchased him. I took my old plastic freshwater fish breeder and placed him in the tank and coverd him with it. I placed near where the Large female was. I covered the whole with a rock and let him stay in it for 2 days. I then removed the rock that was covering the whole and gave him the option to swim in and out as he pleased. The whole was small enough for him but to small for her to swim in. Gave him a safe place to hide, after about a week I found them together shareing an anenome. I removed the plastic house and they have been great every since. I have had them together for about 1 1/2 years now and they take great care of there anenomes.
Here is something like i used. http://www.thatpetplace.com/Product...ms/T1/F11AX+0203+0206/EDP/51680/Itemdy00.aspx

also, Maroons are not best keep in groups of more than 2. They need to be paired up. They are the most aggressive Clown that there is. I started wearing gloves in the tank when my 2 maroons started pinching my skin and actually breaking the skin sometimes. They will also try to re-organize the area around there anenome. I have seen mine large one moving rocks that are close to a 1/2 lb or more.

Here are a few tips

I introduced 3 juvis to my cinnamon girl (6"+) and she chose one suitor in a matter of days. The pair has been laying eggs for the past 2 years or so. The other two were removed.

Maroons usually do not live in groups, but my maroon pair accepted one of their own babies as a third wheel (he was very eager to help with cleaning and taking care of the nest) :)
