I just bought some lr covered in bubble algae. Whats the best way to get it off? Im thinking about throwing it in a container with a heater, power head, and a air stone, with a lid so no light gets in. or should i try to scrub it off?
thanks

remove the rock, get a gloves and try to remove it carefully, if it pops in to your tank it will realise spores and will multiply.

Other methots are let some Yellow tang to eats it, or some smerald crabs

You will regret buying it.

But, I use hemostats and small spatulas to get it off my rocks. Or at least the ones I can't get a hold of with my fingers. It is best to do it outside of the tank and then rinse it before putting it back. i doubt you will permanently get rid of it.

Some people are anal about busting them in your tank, but if you have something in there that will eat them, they will get busted in the process..

My purple tank eats it if he can get to it.

I think most people have bubble algae, in some cases conditions may not be right for it so its in a hibernation state until conditions change and become more favorable. I just rip it out like any herbivore might do. I find that it spreads regardless of how its removed, but at the same time its being controlled. Emerald crabs may help, and there are several herbivorous fish which have been demonstrated to eat it, but if this in the 35g most fish will be too large to put in. Try scrubbing it outside the tank and give it a good rinse. Either that or dont add the rock if you're concerned about it.

I have had good success with taking a tweezers and picking it off. I do it in a bucket of the old water during a water change. That way the spores are not in your tank water.
