how to get clowns back together?

my clowns were what appeared to be paired up as the spent the better part of everyday within inches of one and other...i added a GBTA for them to live in instead of the plate coral they were in...it now appears she has moved on to the BTA, but he has decided to stay in the plate coral...how long you figure it will take for the two of them to shack up again...?

i feel bad for him...as it looks like my 6 line is now wooing what looks to to be his now exgirlfriend...

They are not really considered "paired" unless they have bred. if they are a confirmed pair no worries, they will do their thing. once pair always a pair..

Have you tried removing the plate coral to see if he would follow her then? Might be worth giving it a try.

unfortunately the plate is in the only part of the tank where it wont get its flesh ripped off by insane flow...moving it would be a death sentence...and i like it far to much to part with it..

I don't agree with this. I have had many clownfish that would pair up but not necessarily spawn. The activities of the paired fish were obvious from the rest of the clowns. Paired fish and mated fish are different. My guess is that if a paired fish is not spawning it has to do with external factors.

this may be true but I don't agree with that. clownfish don't pair up because they like each other. they pair up to breed. if they're not breeding their not a pair.. if pair simply means a male and a female that are not trying to beat the crap out of each other, then yes I agree
