How to get clowns to host new anemone?

lol...

well this question is loaded... it depends on sooo many factors...

what type of anemone is it? purple tip says to me a condy or a sabae... if its a condy they will probably never host as it is not even a natural host for ANY type of clown because it is from the atlantic... i have heard of clowns hosting those but i have also heard of them eating anything and everything that touches it, including clowns...

are the WC or TB? WC tend to host faster than TB but either one could take a day, a month, a year or longer... or it could never choose to host in the anemone...

there are just so many factors...

well they have a pretty high rate of hosting... in fact my Rod's onyx taught my ocellaris how to host... so you have a good chance there... it took him about 4-5 months of "feeling it out" on my torch coral until he fully hosted it...

just my experience with Rod's onyx..

Here's what worked for me:
Take a fish net and gently herd your clownfish towards the anemone. I did this and when my clownfish got close to the anemone they saw it and then started hosting it.

Hope it works for you too.

Mine tryed to host my new RBTA when it was still in the bag hanging in the tank before i let it go, i had to shoo it away from it till it grabed hold of a rock

This always seems to work, get a picture of the anemone you have with clowns hosting in it, and post it up against your tank and keep it there until they host, that is what i did with my carpet and it took about a week.

Much of this behavior is instinctive and visual, IME. That is why when you already have a clownfish hosting a sea anemone, a new addition will often enter it more quickly.
