How to get clowns to not host a powerhead

So my male clown jumped tank and I found him on the floor the next day all dried up. A bummer, but now I plan on getting a snowflake male for the female. She's pretty big, so I'll just make sure the one I get is smaller.

Anyways, she hosts the powerhead in the right corner of the tank, and that is the only spot in my tank that isn't covered, which is how the male jumped out and died. Once I get the new male and he goes through the QT stage ok, I want to get the female out of my tank and put her in the QT tank with the male. I'm hoping that after they are in there a while and I reintroduce them to the DT that they won't host the powerhead anymore. Do you think that will work or will they just go to the same spot again?

I don't have a anemone in my tank, but I am in the process of a 150 gallon build right now. It won't be ready for a few more months though, but I thought about getting an anemone for the 150 to see if the clowns will host it. Is it hard to get them to host an anemone after they decided to host something else like a powerhead?

It depends, but if you provide a natural symbiotic host for them, it's very likely they will make the switch rather quickly. If you provide say a completely non-natural host, then it might still work but could take much longer.

It all depends, and at the end of the day they are clowns.. weird, and individual.

I had a an Onyx that was obsessed with a powerhead (there were 2 RBTA in the tank). This is what I did.

I fished him out and kept him in a refugium for about 2 days. When I reintroduced him to the DT, I intentionally released him on top of the RBTA. He kind of stayed for a while then eventually swam away from the RBTA, lights went out and the next morning, I found him in the same RBTA.

I've tried this on a few clowns that were obsessed with powerheads. I'm 2 of 3. Some clowns just rather live near a powerhead.

Clowns are strange fish. Mine host on the rock in the muddle of the tank for the last 6months. But they sleep in the corner of the tank middle way up, looking down at the sandbed.
Guess thats y there clowns.

Well since the male died, I have noticed that she is roaming the tank more. Hopefully she will see something else she likes and hosts that instead of the powerhead. I can't remember the last time she swam around the whole tank and she has been doing that since loosing the male. It's likes she's looking for a mate. She sees her reflection on the top of the water and goes up to it thinking it's another clownfish. It's almost sad to watch lol.

My pair of clowns have pretty much hid (lived) in the back of the tank for 2 years now. I'm hoping they move around more when I do my tank upgrade.
