how to get rid of mushrooms

Mine were growing slowly when I got it. I got only one polyp 6 years ago and it was one of my first corals. I was happy when I saw it multiplying but now there are simply too manny.
Say that every mushroom that I have makes only one new mushroom in 2 months. That means that every two months I have twice as many mushrooms as I had two months ago.
I didn't count them but I'm sure that there are more than 200 maybe even 500.
So should the kalk be dense like toothpaste or more liquid? What will happen to my pH and alk if I put it in?

OMG! I thought I had to many and more than I ever wanted. You have me beat 100 times over. I want to get rid of say 20, you need to loose 200. I am so sorry that they took over. I too am trying to prevent this and would rather not have to remove the rock to do it and I just got the info. WOW! Good luck, the starting over think might be the sane thing to try.
IMHE, you will have a huge amount of dead/dying flesh in your tank, leading in a such quantities to the tank crash.
pH and alkalinity: application of kalkwasser paste, in small quantities (max 0.5 cubic cm - didn't tried more), onto the mouth, left without flow for 15 min, then removed by big pipette or siphoning, didn't made drastic changes. I didn't test before and after, just judging by corals, feather dusters and the fish reaction.
Tried the hot vinegar once - it killed few heads of blastomussa and had to make a partial water change.
Read somewhere, that for removing a small patch of inkillable turf algae, could be used sealing it by CA glue, like super glue.

I would just switch out your liverock. Don't do it all at once because you will upset the biological balance in your tank. Just trade out the rock with your lfs slowly and eventually you will have zero mushrooms. That's what I would do. I would think it would be a pain in the you know what to take a razor blade or inject every shroom with some chemicle that doesn't even belong in your tank in the first place. I would just switch out the rock.

WISH I HAD YOURE PROBLEM I would sell them there getting 2 dollars a polyp here in Ohio
I exchange the rock my shrooms are on for bare rock at my LFS. I wish there were an easier way. Joe's juice works really well on polyps, which were also overtaking my rock, but it doesn't seem to kill shrooms.
It's illegal to get hypodermic needles without a prescription (in NY, at least), so I never tried injecting my shrooms with calcium.
The next time I upgrade my tank, I'm getting all new live rock. Mushrooms and polyps grow way too fast and cause serious problems for clams and hard corals.

i wish mine would grow faster, they op0en up real good , but they dont grow really big , except for two of them , I started with 10 red shrooms about a year ago and now I have 15

ok I have tired everything my self, and I am about to move the whole rock! My LFS is taking it from me, my last option is to cover everything so they get no light

well here is a pic of my own shroom hell! I was able to take the entire rock out and a few others that had a bunch on it. The ones I couldn't get off I cut the shroom and scrubbed the stump with a cut down tooth brush. I hope I got them all!
