My reef has been uo and running gerat for about 5 months now, I have had an oscellaris tank raised in there for 4 months hes still pretty small 1 1/2 inches id say about and i just ordered another small one from the smae place.(it wil lbesmaller thne the one i have in now). Is there anything i can really do to put in this new clown with my original that could maybe make there first meeting easier? Or am i going to have to just ccross my fingers and hope they dont go after eachother?

You can try putting it in there to see if it gets bullied. If so you can take your older clown out for a few hours and leave the new one in so that it can get more comfortable.

A lot of people have success placing the new one in a specimen container or divider of some sort for a few hours so that the older one can get used to it without being able to attack it.

My NEWBIE experience after 8 hours:

I picked up my first true perc about 2 weeks ago. It is the only fish in the tank as I have finished my cycle at 5 weeks. He has "hosted" the top right corner of my 75G since he was introduced to the tank. He will not go 6-8" beyond and no more than 4" down. I have been feeling sorry for him for the last week. So I purchased a second True Perc today. After the 2 hour aclimation, I dropped it in. The first was about 1.25", the one I purchased today was about 1". They got along GREAT. I fed them about 2 hours after the second was intorduced. The wandered around the WHOLE tank for another hour before the LEDs came on. Then the fight was on. The new clown wouldn't leave the old one alone after the lights went off. So they went at it. Locked jaws for a split second and kept going round and round. The old clown always slept at the top of the tank. If I didn't know better, I would have thought it was dead. Anyway, I unplugged the LEDs and turnd off all of the adjasent room lights. They are both sleeping 8-12" away from each other at the surface of the tank.

I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow!

ahhh.... Sounds intense, my clown also hosts the top right corner of my tank but will sometimes explore but sleeps up top and mostly hangs up there. I just hope they get along, and hopefully host my BTA he has shown no intereste in months!!!

I had a false perc that i had for about a year and decided I wanted another clown, got a true perc and put him in there, when they saw eachother they looked like they were in love.

They then decided to move in with eachother, and now house a little overhang on a big rock by the sand bed. They are amazing little guys!!!!

I have heard great success with people when they place their clown in a floating hatchery of some sort for the first 24 hours, then they release them into the main tank. In saying so every fish has a different personality.

Good luck!

It's kinda funny that a lot people's clowns prefer the top right corner of the tank...as does mine. It likes to sleep just above the mag float.

Okay, 24+ hours later they are best buds. For the second night in a row I have made the room completely dark so they don't run into each other while they aren't sleeping. The newly introduced clown had a nice chunk out of one of its fins from last night. They are doing much better tonight. I might try and leave the LEDs on by this weekend.
