So.... there are many precautionary measures you can take from scratching your tank, but I overlooked a very simple thing... making sure that the float you use is made for the thickness of your tank.
My tank was beautiful and pristine until I was given an Algae Free Piranha Float. I ungraded the inside to the blade. Used it twice (the last time to clean a ton of coralline) and now I have this nice built in tank with tons of scratches.
I can't say crap about the float itself because it has great reviews, and I'll probably be upgrading to the Algae Free Great White. But I could have gone without all of these scratches if I just looked up what the float was rated for.
