How to lower bytes in a pic?

I have a pic i want for my avatar. Its like 15,000 bytes.. i think the avatar max size is like 8,000. How can you lower bytes? the pixel size is already correct

Each of your pixels has too much information. They are too detailed.

ha, i used to have PS CS3..hard drive crashed..now running on safe mode..lol...
how do you do it on PS?

Save for web. Usually pick around 50 and it'll work.

I tried to resize one for an avatar in lightroom, but I can't figure it out.

I used to do it in PS elements, but it doesn't run on a mac so it's not on this computer. I know if elements has it than the others have it.
