90-gallon getting back into the hobby tank...

Trigger Systems CRYS30S sump. It is missing the tabs for the eggcrate/sponge section but otherwise is in very good shape. Pretty sure this is the nicest sump I have ever had :ROFLMAO: Still need to close up the stand on the back so the outlet isn't exposed to water.

Bulkheads came and are... bulkheads. At least they fit, but hard to make bulkheads exciting. Return pump is interesting. Ordered a generic black Jebao unit, got a glow in the dark disco ball spinning blue and white unit.

Made a depot run today for PVC fittings. Made sure to buy extra of pretty much everything. Was also buying some other project stuff, so somehow, I forgot that the fittings are held together by something.... pipe... :ROFLMAO: I really didn't think I was going to remember everything anyway, so no worries.

If you don't make 3 or more trips to the hardware store, it's not a real project.

No progress on the tank itself, but I ordered my rodi setup, 100lbs of dry rock, and a few other odds and ends. Started glueing plumbing together, but I want to keep the bulkheads removable for the time being in case I need to move the tank off the stand. I will probably dump the rock into a Rubbermaid and let it start to cycle. I remember this hobby being expensive, but everything seems to be upping the bar :ROFLMAO:

Damn you, you’re gonna beat my upgrade😂

Yes, the hobby is crazy expensive these days.

If I’m not mistaken we aren’t supposed to glue the bulkheads (or plumbing into the bulkheads). I could be wrong though.

I am using slip bulkheads. I don't think I would run a return line under pressure without gluing it. I have unions for both drains and the return line, but once they are glued in place on the pvc, the bulkheads will not come out without cutting the unions off. I debated back and forth between slip and threaded, but based off my previous experience I never had to undo the plumbing on my old tank (at least 5 years) and I am more comfortable with the slip not cracking because I tighten it too much.

Skimmer ordered. I settled on a Reef Octopus Octo Classic 110-INT. Seems to have good reviews and the spec sheet says good to 60 heavily stock to 130g lightly stocked. I don't plan on having a huge bio load, so we will see.

You glue the outside connections on bulkheads but not the inside ones
Or use pipe threaded ones

RO unit hooked up without too much drama. 5 stage RO for under the kitchen sink, with a dual DI just for the fishies. Came up a few fittings short on adding the DI, but it should not be too much effort after Turkeyday. Surprisingly I have 50 psi under the sink, so I think I will squeak by without a booster. TDS is horrible (250ish after the filters, before the membrane), so I will probably be changing filters and membranes more often than I wanted to.
Rock shipped from FL (good luck UPS).
Refractometer acquired, and now I suppose I need salt :ROFLMAO:

Might have water in this sucker by Christmas!

What is the TDS out of the membrane?
Not sure yet. I need a few more fittings to get there. I had the choice between hooking up the pressure gauge or hooking up the TDS meter, and I chose the pressure gauge :ROFLMAO:
Where did you order the rock from?
Addictive Reef Keeping off eBay (Pick your addiction). I read mixed reviews, but it seems like all the negatives were lack of communication and slow shipping, neither of which I care about. Ordered it 11/20, it shipped 11/26, and it is supposed to arrive 12/2 via UPS. I don't see the issue, but I guess it is not Amazon Prime next day like it seems everyone is expecting these days. I ordered 100 pounds large size which should be enough. If not, I will probably pick up some locally, maybe live.

RO unit I got off Amazon
DI unit I got from Bulk Reef Supply
Skimmer I got off eBay slightly (I hope) used

I’ve only heard bad things about Addictive Reefing when it comes to live items.

What do s the TDS out of the membrane?

Not great it turns out. 20-21 on the TDS meter from the RO output. I probably should have hooked the TDS meter to the input, but the unit I have is only in/out so I put it on either side of the dual DI stages. I guess I will have to figure out which will be cheaper, a second RO unit to knock it down, or changing DI resin more often.

Do you have a pressure gauge on the unit? If so, what’s the pressure across the membrane?

Oh, you said 50 under the sink. I boosted mine to 70 and got much better production from the membrane.
I think I am just going to live it for now. The upside is the morning coffee tastes100% better from the RO water. I don't know what is in the water that is interacting negatively with the coffee (probably the chlorine). Oh, and the drinking water tastes much better as well.
