how to make a wave?

i have 1 mp40w gen 2 on my 75g and its at one end of the tank. i was wondering how i could make a wave? when i mean wave,i mean like the top of the water goes back and forth. do you only notice something similar to a wave if you have corals that sway back and forth?

To have a wave put the pump in pulse mode and first adjust the speed and after pulse, i got one in my 3 foot tank and i got a wave, its fast but it moves all the water everywhere!
