How to measure flow rate?

Hi guys, can someone explain how to measure flow rate?

Time how long it takes to fill a gallon multiply repeat

In work in litres but can convert. Multiply by what?

Get a container with known measurements. Preferably one large enough that can be filled for at least 60 seconds. Measure how many liters is added in 60 seconds. Multiply that number by 60 minutes and you have liters per hour. Pretty simple. I know, you're probably thinking, "duh, I knew that".
