I like my crocea clam in the sand but it keeps tipping over. are there any creative ways to keep it standing up? ive heard mounting on clam shells?

ps. how come this forum category is called tridacnid clams and other molluscks? why not crocea and others!

Ok, so I read the title of this post, and came to the conclusion that I really need to get my mind out of the gutter. :eek2:

tsk tsk :D

tonytran, you can try placing him on substrate with a rock to attach to buried in the substrate.

First you start with dimming the lights. Then pop open a bottle of bubbly. Start the music with some Marvin Gaye. Look into the excurrent lovingly. The rest is smooth sailing.

Wait you mean mount the clam to a piece of rock or something?

First start by dimming the lights. Then pop open a bottle of bubbly. Start the music with some Marvin Gaye then place the clam where you want it and build a little fortress around the base out of rubble so that it can't move and it should eventually attach to what ever is under it.

That's what I did with mine except for the bubbly and music and it hasn't moved since.

tridacnid is the family of clams, hence the name T. Crocea(tridacnid crocea)?

*sigh*

Well, I was going to post a funny story, but didn't want to risk the PG rating of the site, or offend any of the ladies out there.

Then again, it just may be too late, already.

Had the same problem so I buried a relatively small piece of LR under the sand, beneath the clam and it attached to the rock. Both problems solved (mine and the clams').

Dang-- forgot to offer help..
Small ring of 1-1/4 PVC placed on sand under clam.. small clear plastic cup, cut down to size----filled with sand...

I put a clam shell under the clam in the sand. it will attach, then you can move it whereever you want it, or leave it in the sand. At least it will not tip over

I use this acrylic clam mount, for my small/medium clams,
it's virtually impossible for clam to fall over. There is a larger
size for bigger clams. Difficult to spot unless you look closely.
I purchased from on online vendor,in Texas who made all kinds
of acrylic mounts, mostly for the MJ pumps - I just don't remember
his name. Maybe someone can help. Dennis

well.. first you need a tiny saddle and bridle....

<--- mind isn't in the gutter.. just a horse person....

I need to check into those acrylic pieces for when I finally get my clams...
