hi all. i just bought a large table acro colony (7inches round) and the base of it isnt attached to anything and i dont know how to mount this, or what i should use. i dont fell confident super glue would work unless i use 500 tubes of it!... anyone have this issue and know what i should do.....? thanks in advance

oh also ive tried 2 part epoxy on corals before and really dont like that stuff so if there is a way to do this without it let me know

hm i guess that would work to, never thought of that.. i kinda wanted it to over hang a ledge in a particular spot though..

Although you don't like it, I make a small ball of epoxy and squish it with the coral to the rock to get the right shape. Then take it out and let it set a bit. Then super glue the epoxy to the rock and the coral to the epoxy. This way you get a perfect surface to mount the coral on which distributes the weight evenly and you don't rely on the epoxy to stick anything.

hmm so i take the coral and epoxy out of the tank for a little bit? it sounds like a good idea. i might try that. however only thing is i bought the coral from reefermadness and they said never to use that stuff b/c it gets hott and will burn sps tissue and if i have a problem with the coral they wont give a refund if epoxy is used

I think they are saying make a " mold " and remove the mold and let it cure. Leave the coral under water. Just remove the putty while it cures so it doesnt touch the coral. I like the idea of setting it in a spot untill it encrusts if at all possible.

Pics ?

use a brick mason drill bit and put a hole in the bottom and then insert a piece of ridged airline tube, use epoxy to secure the tube. Take the rock that you want it to overhang from out of the aquarium and drill a hole into it, put the airline tube into the hole in the rock...presto...see video....http://reefvideos.com/reefshowcase_04_content.html
