Hi guys

I'm going to get a pair of breeding occi from a friend.
the lived in his DT.
should I put them in difreent bags?
the male won't become a female?
they will stay as pair if they sepereit?

thank you!

The male will not become female in that short a period of time. Both times I transported my Maroons (spawning) I transported them together, once in a large bag and once in a cooler.

When Divers Den shipped me my snowflakes (Bonded) they were shipped separately.

I don't think it really matters but expect them to stop spawning for some period of time while they get over the stress of moving and become more comfortable with their new home.

When I moved my breeding occi pair from a friend's tank to mine, they were together. I felt it may help reduce the stress of the move a bit if they were together. Not sure if it did... but they took to the new tank very quickly.

Then again.. it was a 10 minute drive from house to house, plus the time it took to acclimate.

If it were anything but an Occy, I would definitely suggest you seperate. You don't need one fish to get spooked and dart across the bag/bucket, then fuel a sporatic bash fest. My pair of Occy's seem a little less spooky, so you might be ok with both in the same container that short of a drive.

the time of them to be separat is estimate 4 hours.
That's way I ask if the male becom a female and if they stay as a breeding pair.

any more advices for mooving them on the safe side?

Thnak you guys.

It will not matter either way. The male will not become female in anything short of a month if not longer.

Not likely. It depends on the fish though. Some state GSM pairs need to be cautiously reintroduced. SO the pair I bought about a month ago I separated for the night. Soon as I released the little guy he shot right over to his Mrs. and started quivering and swooped along her side.

(Psssssstttt).....wouldn't it be nice to go on vacation for a few days and return to not remember the previous history with the significant other......?

the guy says I will also get a stone they lay on. there is a new eggs on it, I don't think they hatch after we move them to my breeding tank.

Not in 4 hours. Not in 4 days. A male without a female won't normally turn female just because there's nobody else around.

To throw another wrench into the works, I had my Tomato male turn female on me about 2 yrs ago. Wondered why all of a sudden he started get darker sides and he (she) was fighting more with the prior Mrs. I looked one night and they were on opposite ends of the tank. First time that's happened in the 11yrs I've owned clowns.

It can happen and I have seen it on only one occasion, but it was likely over many months this power struggle occurred. My GSM pair is 7+ yrs old (3rd owner) and they are happy as a lark. Like I said, they were seperated for at least 24hrs and they knew their place int eh hierarchy within seconds. You'll be fine.
