How to prevent a flood

Awesome idea! I was thinking of something very similar several years ago, minus the bulkhead/plumbing to go outside. I live in an apartment and my 100 gallon is in our dining room and no way to drill holes in walls to go outside. But a similar concept can be done, but the plumbing be drained into another tank or even a large ice chest on the side of the aquarium stand. Thanks for sharing.

Flexible PVC shower pan liner under the entire bottom of the stand. So the sump, refugium, frag tank, reactors and external pumps are all inside. The liner even has a bulkhead and drain line going thru the wall and out of the house!

going to subscribe to this as I am in the process of setting up my 57 cube and will just be starting to the process of plumbing it......GREAT IDEAS everyone!

1+ on redundant switches. And checking them once in a while to see if the first one is failing. Even though I have a basement fish room with cement floor, I got tired of overflowing RODO from my NSW tank - double switches with one pressure switch and one float valve gives me less mopping up.

I thought of a way to prevent flooding from something like what happens in the following video. It's a similar concept as the pond liner inside the stand, but also build some wood frame walls around the stand lined with pond liner and also have a bulkhead and plumbing going outside or where ever. Watch the video, it's not my tank, but pretty sad what happened to this guy's 300 gallon glass aquarium. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KpMpDZW0ag&feature=feedf
