How to quickly kick off Coralline algae growth?

Do any of you folks have special techniques for getting Coralline algae growing quickly in a new tank?

I've spent 4 months being patient getting everything setup and added the first few creatures...some snails and crabs. Everything seems to be perfect. I'm ready to get the Coralline growing now and various searches on google seem to say it is easy....just add some rocks that have it and it will spread. No argument there...I'm just hoping turbo charge the process.

Some guys suggest chipping it off and kind of sprinkling it around the tank or adding in snail shells (or similar) that it is already growing on? Anybody have an thoughts on this?

I admit that one of my primary motivations outside of tank health....is that the "live rock" is just plain ugly without all the color on it.

Thanks for any advice.

Rich your tank may be too clean, all algae requires some nutrients to grow. Also make sure you have adequate carbonate and calcium levels.
