some reason i posted in the wrong form. lol anyway got this new system set up the over flow in the corner is really loud need a safe way to quiet it down since it in the living room. it kinda a different set up on the drain pipe from what i seen before. the stand pipe has holes drilled in three are 4 different places with bio filters over the pipe. it only has about 6 inchs of water in the overflow and when the water falls making alot of noise and sometimes sounds like a drain sucking water. it about a 1 inch pipe. on a 75 gal system. if a photo would help i can try to get one

thanks all

How many gallons are u trying to run through it? If I remember correctly a 1" pipe can handle 600 gallons anything more than that can be hard to keep quiet. You can also google Hofer gurgle buster, I have used this design in the past to quiet a drain and it worked well.

or "Durso Stand pipe" both gurgle busters and durso's work. I believe I had the same thing on my 65 back in the day and I switched it for a durso which I still run on the 150gl

I second on the durso standpipe. The other reason I have the durso is to quiet the waterfall sound once the water enters the overflow.

It would be much quieter if you extended the drain pipe so that you only had about a 2 inch fall of water into the overflow.
