How to reduce backpressure on durso overflow ?

I have been having problem with one of my durso overflow.

It creates too much backpressure to where I am getting a gurgling noise out of the inlet pipe to the sump.

Setup: 240 AGA with twin overflow.
1 1/4" Durso to 1" for the inlet pipe to the sump.
Adjustable air valve to control air intake

I used to have it with hard PVC and 2 - 90 degrees elbow, at that point the water level inside the overflow would raise up and down on a cycle.

No big deal, I need to change it to a flex PVC. So tonight, I put a 45 degree elbow out of the overflow and flex PVC to the filter sock. I made sure that the end of the flex PVC sits 1.5" below the water level.

The problem now is,,

Everytime I put the air valve, it would drain the water on the overflow until it sits below the Street Elbow.

So I took the air valve off, the water level stay level and constant again.

BUT, the water that comes out of the inlet flex PVC inside the filter sock is making gurgling noise. It constantly releasing BIG air bubbles every sec or two. The best way to describe it would be like a water boiling noise.

This only happens on one of the overflow, the other one works perfectly.

Any ideas or suggestion ?

I had a similar problem with my new setup.

It was from having my drain pipe too deep in my water column in my sump.

If you have a sock on it, cut it back so that it is maybe 2" above the surface of the water.

I also had to tweak the amount of water that my return pump was pushing into my display. If it was too much for my drain, I would get the gurgling also.

I have red the durso site front to back and back to front. I remove the hard pipe and 90 degrees elbows and replace it with the flex pipe and 45 degrees based on their recommendation.

Here's the funny thing...

When I leave the air valve off, obviously the water level in the overflow rises to the amount of air it receive.

But when I put the air valve back on (Screws wide open), the water level recede o the bottom of the EL elbows causing a gurgling sounds.

I even try it with the screw off and it still doing it.

Is this thing really really that sensitive ?

Between the 2 dursos, about 650 gph.

You should be able to run that amount through one pipe and have it be silent. Two should be able to handle that with ease.

IMO I would try adding a second airvalve to the duroso making noise to allow more air in.

Probably just a matter of playing with it.

Personally my drain hoses go all the way underwater in my sump, about 9" of it, they are pretty quiet IMO.

I know it's a matter od adjustment, I got lucky onone and adjusted pretty easily.

So you're saying I should have 2 air valve inline with each other ?
