How to relocate a leather toadstool?

I have a leather toadstool that I need to move as it started growing too close to the glass. It has been sliding down the rock on it's own recently and it looks to be less firmly attached so I'm hoping it will be easier to move.

How can I move it? Can I just cut the base of the stalk where needed at the rock surface? Then just try to use rubber bands to attach it to a new rock? I've only had the tank for 6 months and this will be my first attempt at moving something attached. I want to make sure I don't damage it too much. I am running carbon so I assume that is good as a move will probably stress it.

You can leave a little of the trunk to grow into another and try super gluing the base to a new spot or rock and if it does not stay you can stick a tooth pick threw the base and attach it with rubber bands on each side around a rock to keep it in place so it can secure itself and then super glue the rock where you want it...

Thank you for the advice. I looked at it more closely and it is actually barely attached to the rock now so I shouldn't have to cut it too much. I would've never thought of sticking something through it temporarily. I rather not use glue on it.
