How to remove glass baffle?

I am trying to put my new skimmer in my sump and need to remove a baffle to do so. Short of removing the entire sump from my running system, does anyone have any suggestions?

I have tried scraping the silicon but the bond seems way to strong.

Thanks,
Steve

I would try using a razor blade and cutting the silicon out. It might take awhile and be hard to do but it is the easiet way without tearing the whole thing down.

Honestly, I would grain the water in the sump. dry around the baffle , put a towel over the baffel and then shatter it, the towel will keep the glass from going everywhere and leave just small little pieces on the walls stuck to the silicon. scraping that off is easy, and then you can use a shopvac to get the small pieces of glass and silicon.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to keep trying the razor blade method until I can't take it anymore. jdav, your plan will work well as a backup.

Thanks,
Steve

I used a glass cutter and etched it and then broke it off with a hammer. It mostly came out in one piece! :o

Where did you get a glass cutter? Are you talking about a dremel? Right now, this sump is in-use, so I am not sure I could be doing that yet.

I got my glass cutter at home depot. It is basically a handle with a diamond tip on it. You etch the galss with it and then the galss should snap on the etched line. Should coat under $5.00 for one of these.
