ok - I've searched and read post for using kalk, vinegar, going at them with a screwdriver... What succes has anyone had and would like to share?

These are a green fuzzy mushroom that are of course near the bottom on the rock supporting most of the structure so it can't come out. The eason they need to go is they are at war with the Duncan colony and I like Duncans better.

Assuming the rock is somewhat smooth, I just grab them with a forceps and jerk them off. If you want to save them, throw them in a container of rubble and they will mend and attach. If/when they start to grow back on the rock, I zap them with kalk or Joe's Juice or the like. The trick it seems is zapping them early before they fully develope.

I've never tried to remove the mushrooms but I had yellow polyps that took over and needed to be removed. What I did was use tweezers to get the majority of the yellow polyps off the rock and then I scraped the remaining flesh off the rock. It took about 5 times before the yellow polyps were completely removed where they didn't grow back. I ended up saving all the yellow polyps and mounted them to LR rubble and traded the frags.

What I use is a double sided razor blade that's used for shaving. These blades are super thin and flexible so they can fit right up under the mushrooms and slice them off cleanly. You can get cheap versions of these blades at CVS. But be carfeul how you hold it since they are super sharp on both sides of the blade there in no way to hold it without a sharp edge pointing towards you. If you grasp it in the middle you will be fine though.

The problem with shrooms is if you leave any bit of it on the rock it will regenerate. I am using epoxy to cover the rock were I pulled, cut and other wise chisled out. No more shrooms!

I have a rabbitfish that eats them - quick removal. Found this out after I put him in the tank though :(
