I have a seahorse tank set up in a 30 gallon tank all the levels are good and the last 3 weeks ive had a lot of red algae pop up in the tank and on the seahorses. can anyone help me on how to remove the algae without putting the seahorses in danger. everything I read about the different treatments all say can cause rapid level changes. I have cleaned the tank and did a water change and still cant get it under control. only thing I have tried is the phosphate sponge but still comes back. any help or tips would be great

When I see any algae growing in my tanks I did as you did, water changes. Mine were 20-25% daily.
I also turned off my tank's lights. Reducing or taking away the lights slows down the growth of most algae and doesn't effect the other things in the tank.

You need to figure out what is causing the growth.
Once ID'ed it needs to be corrected.
A proper CUC can go a long way plus proper maintenance and cleaning of your filter media.

One of the first issues might be an overfeeding issue.
Make your that you get all left-over food out of the tank when the Seahorses are finished eating.

Hope this helps some...
