How to renew bar membership

This might be a stupid question. I just found out my Bar membership expired. Should I re-register again using the "New Membership Signup", or should I use a different page for renewal? Thanks.

Tonggao,

You renew by paypal at the BAR account paypal@bareefers.org and I will get a email from paypal for payment once payed and I will update your membership status in data base. Just make you include your handle and name in the notes in paypal

Thanks

From the BAR by-laws:

===

Article II-Membership

Section A
Any person, or persons who have an interest in marine knowledge and husbandry shall be eligible for membership. [...]

Section B
Membership shall not be transferable, and both membership and rights to the enjoyment of property of the organization shall cease and terminate upon death, withdrawal, expulsion or other termination of membership in the organization.

Section C
There shall be two (2) classes of membership.
Individual Membership is defined as a single individual.
1. Individual Membership shall cost $20 per year.
2. Individual members shall have one (1) vote in BAR general elections.

Section D
Family Membership is defined as any group of individuals residing at the same address.
1. Family Membership shall cost $30 per year.
2. A Family Membership shall have two (2) votes in BAR general elections.

Section E
The Board of Directors may change membership fees.

===

So basically the family membership gets you a discount over individual memberships for interested parties that reside at the same address.

The family members collectively are treated as 2 members as far as voting.

We follow through on that general idea with regard to club events.

So in the case of the frag swap for example, 4 people under a family membership would get to participate as 2 individual members. 2 of the 4 would bring their frags etc and participate as 2 individuals.

Thanks for the clarifcation on family membership. In the past family members (2) were not allowed to participate as 2 individuals and were forced to pay an extra $10 to become individual members (family already paid $30) to join the swap. Needless to say that sucked and people felt misled. Can you ensure that this definition gets included in the by-laws since your interpretation can get changed if we change presidents.

I sent in a membership request about a week ago... still no word from the moderator. Is he on vacation? :D

Hi Andy. Appreciate the feedback.

I did try to get up to speed on that issue, and it seemed that the past BOD pretty much laid out the specifics as far as by-laws.

Anything outside of the voting, that isn't explicitly defined, we try to assess as far as meeting the intent of general by-laws covering membership.

So we should be ok with the swap and other stuff.

Guess I'm saying I'll be glad to stick with what you guys before me had laid out... less work for me! :)
