How to shorten overflow tubes

I know this is probably a dummy question, but I need to shorten one of those unique, ribbed tubes that come with overflow boxes.

I looked, and it appears that the end is glued on.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

If it is the kind of hose I am thinking of it is pool vacume hose either 1 /14" or 1 1/2" and the fitting on the end screws on. It could be cut off and replaced get the part at a pool supply company. A pic would be helpful to confirm.

Yeah, that is basically the stuff, I will look at a local pool supply.
