How to stop coral growth

As silly as this sounds how do I slow down the growth of my acros? I've fragged till the cows come home, and everyone in my area has all my corals. I'm just wondering if I took my reactor off line if my corals would stop growing, or just start dying. I've also switched over my lighting to 20K in hopes of slowing it down. With having a 16 month old, time is not on my side. So fragging and selling are a pain in the Butt. Anyone have any ideas. LOL

Prune the corals back far enough that you don't have to worry about them for a while. If you can't sell them donate to a LFS (maybe they will give a store credit to you).

Yah I give to the local fish store, But I try not to. I love this hobby, but I heard what he turned around and sold them for. It was a rip off, I don't mind giving it to them to make a small profit, but he jacked up his prices big time, and I won't do that again.

I hear ya, but it's better than tossing them in the back yard. BTW the LFS's need to jack the sale price to make a profit (their being killed by the big mail order guys).

Drop your ca levels to around 300-320.

There are alot of options here.

Surely you know people that would take them for free. And possible even people that you would trust to stick there hands in the tank and do the fragging them selves. Kinda like tank maintance for free frags.

And if your GIVING the frags to the LFS.....you can tell them what to sell them for. And if they dont listen...then the frags go in the garbage I guess.

If you have to you can frag and dry them and somehow use them in your calcium reactor.

Maybe a local club member would be interested in being a "shipping partner" if you are time constrained. Frag them way back, put them in the selling forum and then let the other person do all the shipping and communication and split the profits with them.

Step 1: Cut all your corals back to almost nothing
Step 2: Ship the pieces to my house

Yeah, you have a HUGE problem I would suggest setting up a frags-for-first-timmers organization where you donate frags to reefers who can't afford or are just starting out with sps corals.
