How to stop coral growth

I understand, not because I have your problem but,...

I once was at a point in this hobby when I simply wanted algae to go away,... I found my problem then it did.

Then I just wanted my softies to grow, they did, got too big and I setup a diffrent tank for them, and moved on.

Then I wanted my LPS to grow, they did and I had to move them out too.

Then I wanted coraline to grow, it did, now I am ticked because I have to scrape it.

Now I am at a point where I want my SPS to grow like weeds,....

Yours did,... Now what?

As silly as this sounds how do I slow down the growth of my acros? I've fragged till the cows come home, and everyone in my area has all my corals. I'm just wondering if I took my reactor off line if my corals would stop growing, or just start dying. I've also switched over my lighting to 20K in hopes of slowing it down. With having a 16 month old, time is not on my side. So fragging and selling are a pain in the Butt. Anyone have any ideas. LOL

Save them for me. :D I will have my tank back up soon enough. :)

WOW!!!! For those of us that would love to have your problem can you post your lighting both bulb type and schedule. Also can you please post all your water parameters? I and am sure others would really like to see this info... THANKS BILL

I always think when people want fast growth to watch out, sooner than you think it will get going and then the pruning and selling, trading, giving away, etc. I have always been fine with slower growth if that is what a coral is doing because I know when they get bigger the growth is exponential. Beautiful stuff you got going there. I like the idea of newbies getting some cool stuff for real cheap or free, sounds like you couls also sell in a group buy format as well like xinumaster suggested. I bet your PM is getting full :)

its very easy to slow down the growth
1st lower your temp to 72 degrees
2nd change your lighting to 20k bulbs
both options will help but they will always grow under the great conditions that you are providing.

I have switched to 20K lighting, they are 400w. But I do have 2 -175w 10k which is probably why they are growing. My calcium reactor doesn't work properly. My tank Alk is 5 Dkh, and calcium is around 350. I do water changes every 4 months if that, at 30gal a change. Other then that nothing goes in my tank. I have gotten alot of emails. I find it hard to find newbies, cause I have guys saying they are newbies, then I find out they are lying to me, so makes me not trust some people, it's sad they really ruin it for the true newbies. But I always try to help them out. Here's a pic of my tank, after a good trimming. I don't know how some people get such good pics. I need to work on my camera skills.

Thanks Gools. I don't think I am a newbie I have had my tank for almost 2 years. I do however realize you never stop learning in this hobby. It is interesting to see how different people get different results. We can all do the same thing yet get different results. Oh well thanks for posting that info for me. Your tank looks GREAT. BILL

Just put together starter packs of 10 corals or so with a flat fee including shipping. Bags/rubberbands/heatpacks/boxes and time are your only constraints.
