How to switch substrate

I hope everyone is having a good summer. I have had my 65 gallon reef up and running for a few years now and I have one regret which is the substrate that I chose. I used crushed coral and I have pretty much hated it since day one. I want to switch to sand but I'm not sure if I can or how to go about it without disrupting the tank to much. Does anybody have any experience with this? Any advice would be kindly appreciated

Not sure how often you do water changes, but you could buy yourself some flexible hosing, big enough to just siphon the CC out a little bit at a time. Maybe spread it out over three weeks, taking out 1/3 at a time. You might have to rearrange some of the rockwork/corals while you do this, maybe set them to one side of the tank, but it should be a piece of cake. When you want to add the sand, just get a piece of pvc pipe, or even that flexible hosing will work, attach a funnel to one side and pour in the sand.
