How to tell if clam is happy

Are there any other landmarks other than mantle extention and growth to tell if your clam is happy? I have had a maxima for 9 months or so and I rearranged my tank and just want to make sure I didnt put him in a bad place. He isnt moving and has his foot attached to the rock where he is currently.

Try this:

First, move your clam so it is just under the water surface.

Second, position your head over top of the clam

Third, sing to your clam.

Results to look for:

If the clam closes up rapidly and sprays water in your face, it's a happy clam.


Shell growth, gape and reaction of mantle are the big tests.
