I have a baby blue with green mouth echino frag that i have recent purchased and i have it about 24 to 25 inches down from 250 w 10k mh and blue vhos so i was just wondering how do you tell if it is happy should i see little polyps around the mouth? at night maybe? and another question should i move it up or shade it more?

That distance should be fine. My watermellon echino loves the light so I put it 15" from my 150 watt DE 14K's. Polyps feeding at night and good healthy looking tissue during the day are signs it's healthy. Meaning if the tissue is clinging to skeleton during the day then it's probably not doing too good.

i keep all my chalices on the sandbed at least 24 inches below light so they dont grow all crazy droopy shapes, they grow out into nice circle like plates that are easy to frag, i feed cyclopeeze and mini misid shrimp through a turkey baster @ night about every 3 days.
BTW chalice grow slow until they reach the size of a .50 cent piece or so, then growth will happen alot faster good luck got any pics? i love chalice and keep about 10 color morphs look in my gallery for a few pics (need to update my gallery )

looks like the flesh is nice and full of water im guessing all nice and puffy i guess that means healthy right? i ahvtn looked at night yet for the polyps but i will and i will try to get pics soon its soo beautiful im goann buy a bigger mother sized colony just so i can spread the love around ;) so let me know in the future ill have frags in interested ;)
