How to treat gill flukes?

Alright so i was watching my 3g pico reef and happend to notice a couple of white things on my clown goby, when i took a closer look i found them to me little worms squirming around in his skin. I decided they must be flukes aswell because he was clean until i added some extra media from the 20 to instant cycle before i moved him there.

I have the RODI ready for the dip so i guessed why not? I am heating it at the moment but need to ask a Q, should i put a diffuser on the airline or leave it to make big bubbles?

Think i got a winner! Look anything like a fluke? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1390956244.143723.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1390956392.725562.jpg these are both at 10X through the microscope. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1390956431.620019.jpg and a pic of what it looks like outside of the microscope.

These came from the clown goby.

What magnification is this? I don't believe this is a fluke. I will post a pic tomorrow of one that came off the gramma. But to give you an idea of what they look like here's a link to WWM. These pics are some microscopic images I sent to Bob Fenner for identification. You will see where he commented "Oh yes, flukes"

Yeah, forgot to post but it was really hard and felt rough. I found a long strand that looks like the fluke in on of the pics, will post a pic of it tommarow.

Blenny heavy breathing, clowns scratched 4 times yesterday, yellow watchman has new tearing in his fins.

All eating great and active and lively.

The tearing of the fins could be anything, like a crab nipping at him. The scratching could be from the fish's' skin healing. This can go on for months. My goby still scratches but I know he doesn't have parasites. This was confirmed with scrapes, FW dips and no one else in the tank is scratching. The Blennys heaving breathing could be nothing at all. My Blenny does that occasionally. If you are that worried you could do a dip on him.
Another option is to go the formalin dip route.
I know this is so frustrating! I battled these things for 7 months!!! I was going out of my mind! Hang in there...you do have other options and as long as you are staying on top of them they won't win:)

Well it was really only 2 doses, i did a 5g WC and dosed on monday. I see my emerald crab and pistol shrimp nip the goby from time to time, but its not him, the gobys the one who has all the tearing. In fact his whole dorsal fin was has become ragged overnight! Could the flukes eat that fast? My blenny in my 37g has heavy breathing aswell but ive had him for a year or 2 and has never shown any other signs of anything, maybe its just how starrys are?

Thanks for all the help newsmyrna!

How to treat gill flukes?

Well ive still got it, i have changed about 20g of water since the last post, everyone was great yesterday and before, but this morning the blenny didnt move for 5 hours. I got home and fed brine shrimp but no responce. I knudged him with my finger and hes so weak he can barley swim, he swam up to the top of the tank and then just fell down and hit his head on the rocks. I did a 5g wc and dosed prazi and am preparing 1g of water for a FW dip. His gills are blood red, mouth white and open, breathing is very heavy. I dont know if hes gonna make it :(. Anything i can do to help him? My large blue nuckel hermit keeps crawling up to him and trying to eat him, i have to knock him away every 5 minutes!

Can you put the Blenny in a QT or at least separate him from crabs? The stress of that is not helping. Were you dosing Prazi prior to the Blenny's symptoms? Is anyone else scratching, breathing hard? What are your water parameters? Could this be ammonia toxicity?

All other fish are great, theres a randall goby in QT i got tuesday. The clowns seem to twitch alot and have scratched a few times in the past week. But gills are good on them, YWMG is the best of all, no tearing, labored breathing, and flashing.

I did a 4g wc monday and dosed prazi and did 2 more before that 5 days inbetween.

Here are the test results-
Ammo- 0ppm
Nitrate-0ppm
Nitrite-0ppm so all is good, i shook the bottles for a minute each before testing, using API master kit.

In the picture you can see his white mouth open... Ive oxygenated the FW for 2 hours, heated and buffered it. Now to get him in.

Hes to weak to even try and swim away from my hand...

The hermits have found it useless to keep going up the rock and getting hit back down, they are no longer trying to get him.

Do you think i should go through with the dip?
