I'm thinking of buying a 72x30x24 and put it in the back of my tahoe and pull a trailer for the stand. It's a 400 mile drive, would it make it ? Any tips from the expert ?

I can tell you it will be cheaper then a shipping company--not that you didn't know that. It's going to run me about $1600 to have a "big" tank, stand and canopy shipped around 800 miles--but it's aleast insured as the tanks worth well more then that:)

The tank will be fine inside the truck, did the same bringing my 180 home. The stand if well strapped down should be fine as well, any energy from a bounce will transfer through the stand to the trailer.

I moved my 240 acrylic in the largest uhaul covered trailer that they rent. I believe it was 6x12 for $29 for the day. It worked great. I used a bunch of moving blankets and put the tank on a piece of foam. The stand was moved as well.

No problems during the transport. We moved the tank around 100 miles.

Just make sure you pad it all around the sides and make sure you stabalize it very well. I transported my 220 in the back of a pick up truck and had no problems. Good Luck!
