I have had a butterflyfish (CBB) in QT1 for a week (it is from DD).
I will get a different butterflyfish (Pakistan) and a tang in the next 2 days plus a half dozen macro algaes, all from LA. I have one more QT.
I plan on putting the second butterflyfish in with the first, and treating both prophylactically with PraziPro and Cupramine over the next 6 weeks.
I plan on putting the tang in its own QT for 6 weeks or so on the assumption it is more likely to show up with ich and the algaes in a bucket of saltwater for 3 weeks or so.
Would you split the fish up this way or put all 3 in the same QT unless a reason develops to separate them? The QT is big enough for all 3 fish (37 gallons, fully cycled and all 3 fish are pretty small) and it would be more convenient to keep them together.
What about the algaes? They are shaving brush, maiden's hair, and halimeda. Will they do ok in a bucket without a sand bed? I can provide some light. I was just planning on using an air pump but no filtration and just change some water every few days.
