how ya guys used purigen?

have any of ya used seachems purigen and if so how did it work?

Ah Purigen. I have used it for a long time. I had good success with it. the water always seemed more crystal clear when I had a fresh baggie in the overflow. I sure wish I could find that baggie now so I can toss in teh sump. best part was that it is rechargeable. just soak in a 50/50 bleach water solution for a day, then in a heavy prime and water solution for a day and it is ready to go again.

I use purigen as well. I like it. I have it in a media bag in a media reactor.

I also use Purigen - in my Eheim. I keep enough for two bags - one in service and one that been regenerated. That way I always have a new bag ready to go into service. Not cheap, but worth it since it can easily be regenerated over and over.

One tip - buy "the bag" (made by Seachem) or the velcro close bags made by Pura. They will hold the Purigen, which is a very, very small resin bead. It will go right through most bags!

sounds good,it says use bleach to clean it and reuse it,isnt that a bit dangerous to do with something going back into the water?

after a 24 hour soak in bleach water, you soak it for 8-12 hours in a Prime and water solution. the prime is a declorinator.

i soak the bleached purigen over and over in fresh water. just so i can have peace at mind that all of the bleach washes off.

ahh gotcha.....heard a few say purigen isnt worth it,from what i read if it does as said then it looks good to me
