HQI question, defective?

Just attempted to turn on my new light, Current Sunpod 48" w/ two 250 watt bulbs. Turned on the cooling fan, turned on the light\ballasts and nothing, fans running, no weird noises, fuses in the ballast look ok, but no light. Checked bulbs, they're set in place nice and snug and can't go in any further. Connections all seem fine...........

Let it run for about 15 minutes, no light. Do the HQI take longer than this to start firing? Or mayabe this is a defective unit?

Have you read the owner's manual?

15 minutes is far too long, in my experience. Mine show some light almost immediately.

yep, went through the manual, followed instructions, went through the troubleshooting steps.

Looks like this may be going back for an exchange.

I honestly think the connectors are backwards. I just looked at the lttle plugs that connect the ballast to the light fixture and the wires are not plugging into anything. The 3 wires from one plug go into blank holes and the other plug has 3 wires going into blank holes to its mate. Both connectors are like this, well I can't go screwing with them now, won't be able to exchange if I'm a ******* and that's the way they're supposed to be for some reason.........??
